Discover the Art of Ukrainian Embroidery: Workshop with NYTKY Project

On April 9 you are very welcome to the Ukrainian embroidery workshop! Whether you are an embroidery enthusiast or have never tried it, we would like to invite you to participate in this free workshop organized by the NYTKY project: a project focusing on traditional Ukrainian embroidery, its current developments and new meanings.

During this workshop you will learn about traditional Ukrainian embroidery, its patterns, symbolism and meaning. Discover the social relevance of this art form, and how it is a means to express important messages. During the workshop you will make your own design and practice different embroidery techniques.

The workshop will be led by Tetiana Goriunova, a designer and embroidery expert from Kiev, and other members of the NYTKY project. The instructions will be in both English and Ukrainian, so everyone is welcome!

We will provide all necessary embroidery materials, but ask that you bring a piece of clothing or textile item that you would like to embroider during the workshop. Preferably choose something that you wear regularly, so that you can proudly wear your own meaningful embroidery afterwards.

Date: Tuesday, April 9
Time: 19: 00 - 21: 00 hours
Location: Verwey Museum Haarlem, Groot Heiligland 47, 2011 EP Haarlem
Cost: participation is free
