The poet Antony Kok had a striking influence on Verwey. Their intense artistic collaboration resulted in almost fifty portraits of Kok, in which Verwey experimented with different techniques and styles to capture the versatility of Kok's personality. For the first time, the special portrait drawings by Antony Kok, from the Rijksmuseum, are on display in the Verwey Museum Haarlem presented.
