On August 4, 2023, the acclaimed and much-loved Haarlemchildren's book illustrator Thé Tjong-Khing reached the memorable age of 90. On the occasion of this memorable event, he will be honored with a unique retrospective in the Verwey Museum Haarlem, which brings together his rich oeuvre: comics, children's books and illustration work, including many new and never-before-exhibited work. The exhibition is curated by Tonio van Vugt, illustrator, artistic director of Stripdagen Haarlem and editor-in-chief of the magazine Zone 5300 – Comics, Culture & Curiosa. He also works as a translator for various comic book publishers and as a publicist for trade magazines. Thé Tjong-Khing: 90 years young can be seen from April 7 to September 10, 2023.
