The Untangled Tales in the FilmKoepel

Film program in collaboration with FilmKoepel Haarlem, inspired by the exhibition

On January 14, 2025 we will organize in the FilmKoepel in Haarlem a special film evening that is entirely dedicated to the exhibition The Untangled Tales by Michelle Piergoelam.

The exhibition shows photographs from the ongoing project The Untangled Tales by Michelle Piergoelam (1997, Rotterdam). The project is a photo series of stories about hope and resilience and shows the ways in which oral traditions, traditions and code language give us an insight into the years of slavery and in Suriname the period after. It is also about how this cultural heritage transforms into new traditions.
