Come to the museum on Sunday, February 22nd, for a special afternoon with artist Jacobien de Rooij. On the occasion of her first solo museum exhibition in Haarlem she personally provides a tour through Rest and Remember.

During this tour, De Rooij will guide you through her oeuvre: from her earliest works to her most recent, monumental, large-format pastel drawings. Discover the exhibition through the eyes of the artist herself, meet the creator behind the impressive drawings, and enjoy a drink in the museum café afterward.

Rest and Remember

The overview exhibition Rest and Remember marks a special moment in the oeuvre of Jacobien de Rooij, who has been active as an artist for over half a century. Her long and successful career is not a hindrance, but rather a source of strength and innovation.

In the spirit of American author Susan Gubar, who in her recently published book Grand Finales: The Creative Longevity of Women Artists In describing older female artists who refuse to be pigeonholed into the so-called “Little-old-lady-land,” De Rooij shows that growing older actually offers space and freedom for innovation. More information about the exhibition.
