This year marks the fifth time that the annual Queer History Month place in the Netherlands. This month focuses on the celebration and transmission of LGBT+ histories, stories and achievements.
The Regenboogposter
New this anniversary year is the presentation of a database containing 40 objects with queer themes from 40 different museum and archive collections in the Netherlands. In honor of Queer History Month, we are showing one of the Rainbow Posters from our collection. This poster is part of the campaign 'In Haarlem choose who you love', designed by the Haarlemthe illustrator and image maker TRIK©.
In 2019, this poster campaign was launched by the Municipality Haarlem, consisting of a series of 8 posters. These bus shelters show portraits of Haarlemthese couples and carry a clear message: in Haarlem you may be who you are and choose who you love. The municipality Haarlem has been called Rainbow City since 2012 and is actively committed to the acceptance and emancipation of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people (LGBTI+). The posters are a local interpretation of the national campaign 'In the Netherlands you choose your own partner'.
Movie night in the Film Dome
We are also organising a special film evening in the Film Dome, where Dolly Bellefleur will give her introduction to the inspiring film Pride. Let yourself be carried away by this powerful true story of solidarity and struggle, in the context of the exhibition Let love reign. For tickets and more info, click here!
