pas de limites – frans strunk and wendy tjalma
October 31, 2025 to January 4, 2026
Inspired by the theme Boundless and their shared love for France, artists Frans Strunk and Wendy Tjalma bring together a beautiful selection of paintings, sketchbooks and drawings in Pas de limites. From lively markets to quiet streets, from colorful landscapes to unexpected views: the artists show everyday places in France in all their charm and diversity.
Wendy Tjalma
Although painting has been Wendy Tjalma's familiar playground for years, these paintings conceal a less visible aspect of her work: a stack of sketchbooks filled with quick drawings of random moments all over the world. Small experiences captured in a few lines, spots, and colors. Not polished work, but pure, unfiltered creativity.
The Artline theme Boundless prompts Tjalma to show her sketchbooks and drawings, in addition to her paintings. For the first time, she shares the spontaneous side of her work – uninhibited, personal, and free – and presents impressions of her great love: France. The sketchbooks and drawings contrast with the more layered paintings and demonstrate that freedom sometimes arises in the smallest, most intimate format.

Frans Strunk
Crisp blue skies, golden sunflower fields, balmy evenings, afternoon tranquility in the shade: these are the images that drew generations of artists to the south. Some were born there and returned repeatedly, others traveled there to capture the light and warmth.
Frans Strunk also finds inspiration there. The climate is certainly more pleasant, but he's especially drawn to the intensity of the colors and the tranquility under the plane trees. In his work, he strives to recreate that languor and sun-drenched atmosphere.
