Circular walk around the former Sint Elisabeths or Groote Gasthuis
The Verwey Museum Haarlem paid special attention to the history of the building itself during the Open Monument Days with a walking tour. The museum is located in the former Sint-Elisabeths or Groote Gasthuis. After the original Sint-Elisabeths Gasthuis (on the Verwulft) went up in flames during the great city fire in 1576, a new hospital had to be built. In 1597, the Gasthuis moved into the old building of the Minderbroedersklooster on the Groot Heiligland. Gasthuisen are intended for the poor; wealthy citizens are cared for at home. When the museum moved to Schalkwijk in 1971, the name changed to EG (Elisabeth Gasthuis) and later to Kennemer Gasthuis. In 2015, it became part of the Spaarne Gasthuis.
You can also do the 15 minute walk around the former Sint Elisabeths or Groote Gasthuis after this weekend. Come by for more information and the route.

During the Open Monument Days, Verwey Museum offered Haarlem also a stage for the Korenlint. Various choirs performed: Small Women's Choir Baba Jaga, All Xclusive, Koorbizniz, Vocal Ensemble Kwarts and Hartkoor Utrecht.
