art class – art, heritage and citizenship

How do you give space to everyone's story without filling in the meaning? How do you use art and heritage as a starting point for a classroom conversation related to citizenship? Discover, experiment, and experience it during Art Class on Wednesday, November 12, from 3:15 PM to 6:00 PM (program starts at 3:30 PM). Art Class is organized by Hart Haarlem compiled in collaboration with the Frans Hals Museum and Verwey Museum Haarlem.

During this inspiring afternoon, you'll experience how to use art and heritage as a foundation for broadening your perspective, and by the end of the afternoon, you'll know how to have enriching conversations with your students (ages 3 through 8). You'll learn inspiring viewing techniques like VTS, VT, and Slow Looking. These are commonly used methods in museums to explore what you see and to discuss it. The collections of the Frans Hals Museum en Verwey Museum Haarlem They serve as inspiration and practice materials, but are not the focus: the focus is on the skills you acquire. You'll also receive practical tips to easily implement the exercises in your own classroom.

For Whom

This afternoon study session is specifically designed for teachers and/or cultural coordinators in primary education who want practical tools to connect art, heritage, and citizenship. We'll conclude the afternoon together in the café of the Verwey Museum. Haarlem followed by a pleasant drink.

Programme
• 3:15 PM – Walk-in at the Frans Hals Museum
• 3:30 PM – Start of the program 'Art, Heritage and Citizenship' in the Frans Hals Museum
• 16.30 pm – Continued in Verwey Museum Haarlem: 'Art, heritage & identity'
• 17.15 pm – Closing in the café of the Verwey Museum Haarlem and a drink
• 6:00 PM – End
