verwey and steijn – shared studio
January 19 to May 20, 2024
De Haarlemhe artists Kees Verwey (1900-1995) and Wim Steijn (1914-1980) share a common training with the renowned painter Henri Frédéric Boot (1877-1963). They probably met in Boot's messy and dirty studio. Wim Steijn also worked for some time in Kees Verwey's studio on the Spaarne. Despite being completely different, the artists have a good bond with each other. The exhibition examines both their work, the influence of Henri Boot and the further development that Verwey and Steijn undergo.
