Orkest De Ereprijs gives a free concert in the garden of Verwey Museum Haarlem
Orkest De Ereprijs will play on Saturday 24 June in the garden of Verwey Museum Haarlem. The orchestra wants to bridge cultural differences and make connections between generations. Of de Pureeand others Tour search ze the audience in an environment where contemporary music not too often find it.
As part of the multi-year Re-Generation programme, six composers were commissioned to compose new music based on objects and stories from a museum's permanent display. Location for the concerts this year are in Museum Arnhem, Verwey Museum Haarlem, Kröller-Müller Museum, CODA Museum, Stedelijk Museum Breda and Kasteel Huis Bergh.
The new compositions can be inspired by the entire museum, a painting or sculpture, or the history of the city where it is located. This allows the pieces of music to reflect, comment or offer a different perspective; a kind of musical audience mediation. This creates a composition of about six minutes for each museum. For Verwey Museum Haarlem composer Klaas de Vries made a piece of music inspired by the famous Droste tin from the collection.
